In Bashkiria will build a plant for the production of ethylene?

The authorities of Bashkortostan, GAZPROM and Wison of Chinese origin discussed the idea of building a natural gas processing plant in the region to produce polypropylene and ethylene.

This was announced by the head of the region at a meeting of the regional commission on the policy of the energy corporation, which took place on November 1.

Rustem Khamitov met on October 25 with the chairman of Gazprom and discussed several issues, especially the problem of deep gas processing in the region.

“The fact is that Gazprom could“ leave ”from 2 to 5 billion cubic meters in the territory of the republic for such activities. m. gas per year. There are modern projects, including with the Chinese company Wison, to create a complex for processing natural gas into ethylene and propylene. This would be promising and necessary for the corporation, the country and gas chemistry as a whole. I hope that together with Gazprom we will promote such a project. Alexey Borisovich formulated the order to his units, now this option for joint work will be studied, ”Rustem Khamitov said.

According to Khamitov, the project is under development, and investments in the creation of the plant will cost several hundred billion rubles.

The project came to the liking of the government of Gazprom, who consider gas processing and the production of polyethylene and ethylene to be promising and interesting for the company. According to Valery Golubev, who is the deputy chairman of the board, such a project will allow the successful use of approximately 3.5 billion cubic meters of gas per year. Golubev also noted that to achieve this goal there are all the necessary resources, specialists and technical capabilities.

“Therefore, all the prerequisites for a new enterprise to appear here in the next three to five years (how long does the investment cycle take) are definitely there,” said Valery Golubev.
