Dinitrol - protection of the whole car from corrosion

Among the protective compositions for the car body, Dinitrol anticorrosive is popular. The line of such tools reliably protects the machine from mechanical damage, rust, creates an anti-gravel layer and performs a number of other useful functions.

What is dinitrol 479

Externally, Dinitrol 479 anticorrosive liquid is a black liquid of dense consistency based on polymer rubber, which is packaged in cans of 1 and 5 liters. The composition is made in Germany by the company Dinol AG, is famous for its excellent quality and has another name - "Liquid Lockers". After solidification, Dinitrol transforms into a plastic material, which reliably protects body parts from the influence of negative factors.

Dinitrol liner treatment

Dinitrol boasts the following advantages:

  • a high degree of adhesion with metal, plastic, and also painted and varnished bases;
  • thixotropy - the composition does not form streaks, a drop, is applied in an even layer and solidifies as it reaches a “calm” state;
  • elasticity - the applied material will be plastic enough not to collapse from vibration;
  • interesting texture - the film created by the anticorrosive is rough in appearance, which gives it an unusual and aesthetic appeal.

Dinitrol is characterized by resistance to salts, reagents, with which the car body regularly contacts on the road. The protective layer does not crack, does not crumble, does not collapse from frost and temperature changes, tolerates heating well to +110 degrees. Antikor Dinitrol 479 can be used in any climatic zone for processing the underbody, wheel arches, gas tank, trunk. The composition has soundproofing characteristics, so after applying it, the noise intensity in the cabin decreases. But the main property of Dinitrol is the prevention of corrosion processes on the exposed parts of the machine, especially on the underbody and wheel arches.

The composition of the funds

The composition contains artificial rubber, polymer groups, corrosion inhibitors. To preserve elasticity, Dinitrol 479 also introduced plasticizers. In order to enhance adhesion, the composition includes bitumen, wax, special additives and additives that allow it to remain for a long time on the treated surface.

Dinitrol does not contain harmful solvents, therefore it does not pose a risk to human health and the environment.

Instructions for use Dinitrol 479

Most often, Dinitrol is used to treat old cars, the body of which is subject to corrosion due to abrasion of the factory paintwork. Often, the composition is also used for additional protection of parts of new cars in the field of wheel arches, underbody, especially when operating in the field.

Before starting work, it is important to prepare the foundation:

  • wash the surface (it is better to do this at a high pressure washer with warm or hot water);
  • let the metal dry naturally;
  • wipe the machine with a soft cloth to remove water marks;
  • degrease parts with white spirit, acetone.

Preparation for applying anticorrosive

Wheel arches must first be dismantled, otherwise applying the Dinitrol compound will be inconvenient. If there are pronounced corrosion elements, they must be mechanically cleaned with a grinder, emery cloth or removed using a rust converter.

Antikor Dinitrol can be applied in one of three ways:

  • with a brush;
  • spray gun;
  • putty knife.

The easiest way is to apply by spraying, the finished layer will be more uniform, and the material will penetrate even the most inaccessible places and fill small cracks. Before use, it is better to warm the Dinitrol composition to +40 degrees so that its consistency is not too thick (you can skip this point for putting with a spatula).

The product is applied in 2–4 layers, waiting at least 15–20 minutes after the previous one. It is necessary to observe the thickness of each coating within 0.75–1 mm (the total layer is 1.2–2.5 mm, in some cases up to 5 mm is allowed). After finishing work, let the parts dry for 12 hours at a temperature of + 15 ... + 25 degrees.

How to dilute Dinitrol 479

It happens that Dinitrol becomes too thick, and heating does not help to give the mass the desired consistency. In this situation, it is necessary to dilute the composition, although this procedure is undesirable - the more anticorrosive is bred, the higher the risk of crumbling, detachment from the metal during operation.

For dilution, you can add a little white spirit or other solvent other than gasoline to Dinitrol. The total amount of solvent should not exceed 5% by weight of anticorrosive.

How much does dinitrol dry

It is imperative to wait 15-20 minutes after applying each layer - this will help the coating dry out "on the stick" and reliably grasp the surface. The total drying time of the protective film will depend on the ambient temperature - if it is not lower than +15 degrees, you can use the machine after 8-12 hours. At a cooler temperature or layer thicker than 2.5 mm, the drying time will increase to 1-2 days.

Processing technology

If you wish, you can conduct anti-corrosion treatment of the car with your own hands. In order for the completed coating to serve for a long time, the surface must be properly prepared. To begin with, carefully remove the plastic elements that block access to the underbody, wheel arches - mud flaps, fenders, sills, expanders. It is better not to disconnect the aluminum heat shields on the exhaust system, but simply to bend it slightly during operation, as they are easily damaged.

Before applying Dinitrol, the machine must be washed well in one of the ways:

  • at the service station, choosing the service of washing the arches and the bottom on the lift;
  • on a conventional sink, where there are rolling nozzles under the bottom;
  • at home, if there is a high pressure washer, either manually or with the help of a garden sprayer and rags.

In case of severe contamination, the machine is washed using car shampoo. After drying, they leave the car to dry on the street (in dry weather) for a couple of hours, and in the cold season they put it in a warm, but ventilated room. Further, those parts that will be processed by anticorrosive are degreased with Dinitrol 582, Dinitrol Avtokliner or any other means, then proceed to the main work.

Hidden cavities

If you have a compressor, you should buy Dinitrol in 1-liter Euro tanks, which are very convenient to use. You will also need an anti-gravel gun complete with an extension nozzle for hidden cavities:

  • thresholds;
  • side members;
  • hollow boxes on the bottom;
  • hood bonnet amplifiers;
  • luggage compartment niches.

If there is no compressor, you can use a conventional spray gun or spray gun to work with Dinitrol. At service stations, small holes are drilled, an anticorrosive is applied through them, and then they are covered with plugs, but you should not resort to such technology at home. In the absence of good access to the hidden cavity, it is better to carry out a careful dismantling - remove the upholstery, thermal insulation, etc.

The composition of dinitrol is uniformly applied inside the cavity, while it is deposited on the surface and covers it with a protective layer. It is convenient to paint hidden areas with a thin nozzle on the spray gun. If excess Dinitrol leaks from the drainage holes of the cavity, the composition was applied correctly and in sufficient quantity. Drops are immediately removed with a rag soaked in white spirit.

Bottom and wheel arches

In order for the most vulnerable part of the machine - the bottom - to be reliably protected for up to 5 years, it is necessary to create a film with a thickness of 300 microns or more on it. On average, up to 5 liters of dinitrol is spent on processing wheel arches and the underbody of a standard-size car. With manual application it is difficult to achieve uniformity of the layer, therefore it is advisable to use automatic installations or a spray gun.

Before starting work with Dinitrol, it is necessary to close with paper or film all the nodes on which the composition would be undesirable (exhaust system, brake discs, drums). It is important to carefully handle the most inaccessible places:

  • the area of the propeller shaft;
  • surface under heat shields;
  • flanging arches.

Anticorrosion coating of the bottom

Before assembling the liner and other parts, the Dinitrol anticorrosive layer should be well dried so as not to damage the fresh coating. It is best to assemble after 24 hours, but the minimum time should not be less than 12 hours.

Exhaust system

This system is very susceptible to spoilage and decay, in particular this applies to the resonator and silencer, which are made of thin metal. Pipes also suffer from corrosion: despite their thickness, they constantly undergo temperature changes and work in very adverse conditions under the influence of water, dirt, salt, and chemicals.

The protective coating seriously extends the life of the parts. It is impossible to use the standard Dinitrol 479 anticorrosive system for the exhaust system - it does not withstand strong heating. For this purpose, Dinitrol 8050 Thermolac is used, which consists of aluminum and easily tolerates heating up to +800 degrees. The composition is applied in 2 layers, observing an intermediate drying of 20 minutes. Upon completion of the work, the film is heated with a construction hairdryer to +200 degrees so that complete polymerization occurs.

Outer surfaces

Old cars have many weak points in the area of external surfaces. These include gutters, body welds, areas around locks, glass seals, moldings, and a gas tank flap. For external processing, Dinitrol 485 is used, having wax in the composition and creating an invisible transparent, but solid film.

The tool is penetrating, closing all cracks in the metal. It can be used in any climate, as it can withstand heat up to +130 degrees.

Dinitrol 485 is applied by spraying from a balloon (sold in aerosol form) and dries in an hour. You can use it even inside the cabin, because the resulting film does not stick and is neutral with respect to coatings and any other materials.

Engine compartment

Under the brand name Dinitrol, a special Dinitrol 4010 compound has been developed, designed to protect the engine compartment. It creates a strong, flexible, impermeable film that displaces water and prevents it from contacting the metal. The product withstands heating up to +200 degrees, protects the engine compartment from corrosion and oxidation. It can be applied not only to metal parts, but also to plastic, rubber hoses and pipes, fasteners, electrical connectors.

Dinitrol 4010 is sold as an aerosol in spray cans and is applied by spraying from a distance of 20 cm at an air temperature of +15 degrees. It is recommended that they process both used cars and new cars: in the first case, it is only important to thoroughly wash the engine first.

Aluminum, non-ferrous metals and galvanized parts

During active use in aggressive conditions (temperature changes, vibration, the action of water and chemistry), aluminum is susceptible to corrosion. Radiators of the cooling system, oil radiators, and an air conditioning device are made of this metal in a car. To prevent destruction, it is recommended to apply Dinitrol 713iQ to such parts, which is ideal for alloys based on aluminum, copper, brass, bronze.

The product is sprayed from a spray can with a nozzle with a capacity of 400 ml. A durable film with a thickness of 15 microns of a light brown shade will be created on the details, which does not interfere with the operation of radiators, letting heat pass through. Such protection seriously prolongs the life of these systems, and one package is enough to cover all the aluminum parts under the hood.

Some body elements undergo factory processing - are coated with a layer of zinc, and only then painted. If it is damaged, corrosion can develop quite quickly. To restore the protective layer, you can use special compounds Dinitrol 443 and Dinitrol 444, which are based on zinc and artificial resins. They create a durable film on metal that can withstand temperature extremes from –40 to +150 degrees. It is important to wait until the composition has completely dried before using the machine (2 days). If desired, you can then color the parts with any suitable paintwork.

Dinitrol with zinc

All compounds of the Dinitrol brand are characterized by high reliability, efficiency and low consumption. They really extend the service life of the most vulnerable components of equipment, therefore they are recommended by professionals and are widely used by motorists.
