Scientists figured out how to make wood impregnation from waste

waste water impregnation

Scientists from Belarus have found a way to create water impregnation for wood based on waste from domestic enterprises. The author of the innovation, candidate of technical sciences Elena Shinkareva, shared this news with reporters.

Recently, natural wood elements have become quite popular material for decorating buildings. They are the components of many architectural styles: country, Mediterranean style, palace, English, Provence. In addition to the aesthetic appearance, wood smells very nice.

However, being a natural material, a tree can receive various damages from external conditions, such as humidity, temperature, insects, internal rot and fungus. An ideal option for extending the service life is special protection in the form of processing with paints and varnishes.

Specialists of the Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry of the NAS of Belarus have invented water impregnation based on peat briquette, charcoal and buckwheat production wastes.

- Impregnation can be used for external and internal works, - said E. Shinkareva. She believes that, unlike other analogues, the new impregnation has multifunctionality: resistance to blue rot, termites, ultraviolet rays, fungus, quick absorption and drying, hydrophobicity, a large selection of colors and shades, aesthetic appearance.

At present, the experimental batch is undergoing all necessary tests.
