Foreign investments in the Russian paint and varnish market will increase

Interest in Russian enterprises

A positive resolution of the issue of creating special economic zones, including those with the goals of producing paint and varnish products, has significantly raised the interest of reputable Western investors in Russian enterprises.

Leadership in this matter was taken by Italian and Finnish manufacturers. So, the Finnish company Nor-Maali Oy already in early July will begin construction of a new paint and varnish production in the territory of the Moglino special economic zone, located near Pskov. The Italian investors from the San Marco Group are eyeing Kaluga, where there is the possibility of a joint Russian-Italian company for the production of premium paint products.

The correspondent of the Nika television company asked the authorized representatives of these companies about the prospects for these projects. Nor-Maali Oy replied that the Pskov enterprise would be oriented to the North-Western regions of Russia with the subsequent development of export production to the Baltic countries. The absence of labor-intensive shipping in this case will significantly reduce the cost of production.

Italian businessmen believe that the placement of paint and varnish production in the FEZ “Kaluga” will be focused primarily on the needs of the automotive industry. It is known that it is in Kaluga that a fairly large car assembly plant operates.

The amount of transactions will be about 350-400 billion rubles. New production is planned to be launched in 2017.
