Material Composition
BT-577 varnish is produced according to GOST 5631-79. According to the standard, it includes petroleum bitumen, which forms the basis of varnish, as well as organic solvents, mineral oils, asphaltenes, resins, desiccants. To enhance the gloss of the varnish film, increase the drying speed, synthetic additives are introduced into the composition.
As diluents are used:
- turpentine;
- solvent;
- White Spirit.
Based on this varnish, BT-577 paint is made - for the preparation of 80% of varnish, 20% of aluminum powder is added. The production of the product itself consists of several stages. First, make the varnish base of linseed oil, bitumen and asphaltite, then add other components to it and get varnish. After typing in the mixer, cleaning in a centrifuge and filtering. At the end, the material is poured into a container, and it is ready for transportation and sale. Each batch is assigned a certificate of conformity, a certificate.

According to this document, the following requirements for the parameters are set for this material:
- the appearance of the coating is black, the structure is homogeneous, without wrinkles, pockmarks, craters;
- conditional viscosity with a VZ-246 viscometer at a temperature of +20 degrees - 18–35 s;
- nonvolatile components - 39%;
- drying time to the 3rd degree at +20 degrees - 24 hours, at +100 degrees - 20 minutes;
- the hardness of the film on the M-3 device is 0.20 cu;
- film elasticity - 1 mm;
- resistance of the coating to the action of water at +20 degrees - 48 hours;
- resistance of the coating to the action of a saline solution of 3% at +20 degrees - 3 hours.
During storage, the viscosity of the material can increase by 10%, while preparing the solution, the indicator is brought back to its original norm. The exact shade of color is not regulated.

There is a BT-577 of various packaging for sale - from 0.5 kg to 50 kg. Mode of application
The surface is important to prepare. To do this, it is cleaned of rot and mold (if it comes to wood), cleaned of rust, dirt, oil, salt, fat (metal products). It is possible to carry out coloring without preliminary priming.
The material, if necessary, is diluted with solvents - solvent, white spirit, toluene. A mixture of these solvents may be used. Varnish is well kneaded, let air bubbles out for 10 minutes.
For painting use:

Other important rules when using BT-577:

- the drying time of the surfaces is 24 hours at room temperature (+20 degrees), it is also possible to carry out drying at a temperature of +100 degrees for 20 minutes;
- It is recommended to apply 2 layers of varnish, the drying period between them is the same.
Storage and safety
The presence of solvents and other synthetic components makes BT-577 varnish toxic to humans. It should be applied to products only with strict observance of safety rules. Respiratory tracts are protected by respirators, gas masks, the supply and exhaust ventilation should be equipped in the room. It is safer to carry out work in open areas. Hands protect with gloves, body with tight clothing.
If material gets into the eyes or on the skin, they are immediately washed with water (if necessary, wipe the skin with any solvent, then wash it well with soap). If varnish enters the stomach, you should induce vomiting, rinse, take sorbents and drink plenty of fluids.
The material is explosive, fire hazard. It is stored only in an unheated room, tightly closed, away from any sources of fire, heat. Shelf life - 6 months, store without moisture and sunlight.
