Many car owners try to make them unusual, attractive, so they use the services of designers and airbrush masters. Car tuning is now very popular, especially one of its areas - styling. To improve the appearance of the machine, Candy paint is widely used - a high-quality polyurethane-based paintwork material.

Candy’s car paints are easily connected to each other, resulting in unusual tones. Using modern technology, the master can make various color transitions, giving the car a unique design.

Candy paint is a water-based paint and varnish, so there are no harmful solvents that are harmful to health. When thickened, the paint can be diluted with ordinary water, alcohol or vodka. Alcohol dilution will provide faster drying of the material.

The tool can be applied with an airbrush, isograph, brush - the selection of equipment is carried out by the master individually. The grinding of the dye (pigment) is very thin - up to 1 micron, so the coating creates a feeling of weightlessness, transparency. Due to the nature of the texture, the paint must be varnished, otherwise it will not be resistant to chemical, mechanical influences.

The material creates a beautiful film on plastic, natural leather, they can be drawn on various flexible bases. If you plan to paint inorganic materials - glass, metal, ceramics, a special primer is introduced into the composition immediately before application. Usually they use Exmix Prime, which blends perfectly with candy.

Advantages and disadvantages of Candy

The indisputable advantage of paint is its bright, juicy color. Only a paramagnetic powder paint, which changes its tone depending on the effect of magnets, can boast such a beautiful shine, an unusual gamut. Color saturation is due to the introduction of a special powerful pigment. Conventional car coatings cannot produce a depth effect combined with transparency like Candy.

Other advantages of the paintwork material are as follows:

  • fineness of pigment powder grinding - it does not clog the nozzle of the airbrush, and the quality of coloring will be ideal;
  • the ability to mix colors among themselves, which allows you to create more than 100 new shades;
  • suitability for drawing various gradations, transitions, the so-called "moving drawings";
  • the possibility of applying in several layers (up to 8), and each layer will have a different effect, uneven juiciness;
  • safety, environmental friendliness.

Candy paints also have flaws. Their cost is high, and the work is complicated, only a professional can handle it. Therefore, owners of expensive equipment prefer to paint the car with this material, because the result will be exclusive and will cost several tens of thousands of rubles. Also, the disadvantages include the lack of the possibility of repair. Even after a small accident or scratching, the car will have to be repainted. Some dyes in the Candy group are weakly resistant to light and may fade.

Doing it yourself is almost impossible. Since the paint is transparent, all body defects will be very noticeable. First you have to bring the car to perfection, only then carry out its tuning. After they make a special substrate, and only then apply the paint in several layers, and as quickly as possible. The next layer is applied before the final drying of the previous one, and not every master can do it. At the end of the work, 3-4 layers of varnish are applied, and also in accelerated mode.

Candy Views

Paints of three main types are produced, which fundamentally differ in properties. This is a transparent Candy-varnish, ready to apply paint (base) and dry concentrate. The latter can be dissolved in varnish or base material, as well as in any other high-quality automotive paintwork.

As for the form of release, Candy is sold in aerosol cans of 520 ml, as well as in larger containers. Many companies sell paint by weight from 100 ml. The concentrated powder is presented in a 50 g package; this package lasts for 550 g of finished paint (1:10 with the main material is diluted). It must be remembered that the quality of such coatings will depend on the cost, properties of the paint used, and not just the concentrate.

Candy paint in spray cans

Candy in balloons is more often used for tuning a car, but it is also suitable for coloring:

  • household appliances;
  • mopeds, bicycles;
  • furniture;
  • souvenirs;
  • sports equipment;
  • interior items;
  • crafts.

Paints by weight are used to update the surface of cars, boats, snowmobiles, motorcycles, furniture. They are poured into a spray gun or airbrush. Concentrates are interesting for car dealers who clearly know the properties and quality of other brands of paints. Capacities for liquid paint are made of transparent plastic, have a lid-twister, tightly closing the bottle. Inside there is a special ball that helps to shake the material.

Candy Concentrates

These concentrated products are well suited for any polyurethane and acrylic enamels. The finished paint is transparent, as the layers are applied, the tone darkens and builds up intensity. Concentrates are used both in full car painting and in airbrushing. The shelf life of dry concentrate is much higher than that of the finished paint. The material is characterized by weak pigment migration and increased light fastness (6-7 points out of 8 maximum).

Polyurethane Candy

This paint is two-component, sold in the form of a base and hardener (catalyst). In airbrushing, it is rarely used, since it is inconvenient for this purpose. In fact, this is the main product of the line. In cylinders, Candy polyurethane is already mixed with the catalyst, but does not harden due to the airless environment.

Candy Base

This group includes varnishes, as well as base coatings, consisting of a transparent material with the addition of dry concentrate. There are mother-of-pearl base paints that are used in car painting and airbrushing.

Basic rules and methods for painting a car

The approximate consumption of material is 520 ml (cylinder) per square meter of surface in 4 layers. Usually this number of layers is enough to unleash the full potential of Candy, although some masters advise applying up to 8 layers.Before starting work, acquire the necessary amount of material of the desired tone. Previously, it is worth making a test spray - this will help you choose the right color.

How to paint a car with LMB - the sequence of actions of the wizard:

  1. Surface preparation. It is carried out in the same way as for ordinary staining. All irregularities, scratches, dents must be removed, as well as places of corrosion. Grinding is carried out with a material with an abrasive no more than P800. Porous putties, poor-quality primers can not be used - the paint will be absorbed into them, as it is prone to migration. Immediately before work, the surface is thoroughly degreased.
  2. Application of a substrate. You need to pre-select the substrate, given that it can highlight Candy from the inside. You can not use cloudy metallic, mother of pearl - they greatly reduce the effect of paint. The application is carried out according to the instructions that apply to a particular substrate. Each layer should be allowed to dry well to evaporate solvents as much as possible. If their concentration is high, the adhesion with Candy's paint will decrease.
  3. Drawing base. When using Candy concentrate, it must be mixed with a transparent base in a certain ratio (usually 1:10). The proportions can be changed at will, some masters mix the concentrate with the base 1:20. Next, you need to add a hardener 1: 0.7 with finished paint. Application is carried out on the assembled car, all its details must be in place. The spray gun is filled with material, passages are made non-stop along the entire length. The stripes should slightly overlap the previous ones. Upon completion of the first layer, the second is immediately applied.
  4. Varnishing. Varnish is applied in at least 2 layers, and it must have additives to protect it from ultraviolet radiation. It is dried according to the instructions, then, if necessary, polished.

Painting a car paint Candy

How to create unique candy effects? There are two main ways:

  1. Painting from the shade. First, a dark surface is created - the car already has one, or the car is painted black. Further, zones of light are distinguished - ribs, bulges. In each light zone, the paint should completely cover the dark substrate. Instead of metallic, you can apply several layers of nacre. Next, 3-4 layers of total Candy staining are performed. As a result, the illusion of rolling colors and its departure from bright to dark is created.
  2. Painting from the light. The method is similar, only the substrate is painted in metallic, and the first shadow areas are covered. In the future, the technology is the same. This method is usually chosen if the machine is factory-painted metallic.

The effect of candy is very light, gentle, it is not like any type of tuning cars with other paints. When using it, a unique car will be obtained, so the result is worth the money!
