Under staining, MDF skirting boards are produced in either white or light gray. Although there is nothing super complicated in the process of applying paint to them, nevertheless, there are certain rules and technology for this, consisting of the following steps:
- Coloring of floor MDF skirting boards can be done with any paints on wood and after their installation, and before it.In the first case, you will need to protect the floor and walls from paint from using molar tape or construction tape.
- Before painting, the bar must be treated with a primer. It will contribute to better adhesion of the paint to the surface of the skirting board, so that the decoration will turn out smoother and better. Also, it will additionally protect this product from moisture and other negative external influences.
- After preparatory work, you can proceed to the direct coloring of the skirting board. To do this, first paint is poured into a small container that will be convenient to move.
- Then a brush is dipped into it (it should not be too thick with respect to the baseboard), and then, in order to avoid smudges, excess paint is removed from it.
- Then, starting from some end, a hand with a brush in uniform and smooth movements according to the principle of "right or left" is held parallel to the floor along the baseboard so that there are no unpainted spots on it. In this case, with the other hand, you need to move the wide spatula, following the brush, along the bottom of the plank, which will protect the floor from contamination. Wipe it periodically with a clean cloth.
- If after applying one coat of paint the baseboard does not look so beautiful and the base surface appears on it, then it will need to be painted again. Usually it is enough 2 layers, but depending on the type of paint, sometimes the bar needs to be coated with a pigmenting composition for the third time. Before applying each subsequent layer, the baseboard must be allowed to dry well.
- The masking tape is removed from the floor and walls when the paint dries.
It has been described the technology of painting a floor MDF skirting board with a brush. But it is also not forbidden to decorate with paint, which is in the spray can. The only thing in this situation is to work with it outdoors or in a well-ventilated room. In this case, the bar should not be installed.
