Properties and application features of the primer HS-068

Primer XC-068 - a paint and varnish material used to protect metal surfaces inside and outside the premises. It is used where conventional anti-corrosion compounds cannot withstand aggressive chemicals. LKM is indispensable in heavy engineering, the production of cars, sea and river vessels, and the chemical industry.

Composition and properties

Soil HS-068 is a mixture of copolymers, vinyl chlorides and organic solvents. Certificate of conformity according to GOST - TU 6-10-820-75.

Colors of means:

  • red brown;
  • Gray.

XC-068 is used to protect metal structures

The consistency is homogeneous, there are no impurities. After applying enamel to the primer, a coating is formed that is resistant to various chemicals. Among them:

  • active gases (NO2, SO2, ammonia, carbon dioxide, etc.);
  • acids;
  • salts;
  • compounds of alkalis.

LKM can withstand the most common chemical compounds for the following time:

  • 8 hours to the effect of sulfuric acid;
  • at least 12 hours to exposure to nitric acid and sodium hydroxide;
  • at least 24 hours to exposure to hydrochloric acid.

In all these cases, the time is given taking into account the temperature of approximately +60 ° C.

Features and characteristics of the primer

Surfaces are treated with XC-068 before subsequent application of XB and XC enamels. After final painting, the coating withstands temperatures in the range from -30 ° C to +60 ° C.

LKM XC-068 is a mixture of pigments and fillers dissolved in a vinyl copolymer. The main technical characteristics of the composition are as follows:

  • conditional viscosity is 30-70 seconds at +20 ° C;
  • adhesion level is estimated at a maximum of 3 points;
  • non-volatile components are present in an amount of 17 to 20% of the total volume;
  • milling degree does not exceed 50 microns

Surface and material preparation

Before applying the soil, the surface must be cleaned of old enamel, traces of rust, oil stains, gasoline and others and degreased. This procedure is performed by sandblasting. After its completion, remove sand and dust remaining on the material, and also clean sharp metal edges.

Before use, the primer must be mixed until smooth. To obtain the required consistency, it is diluted with solvents P4 and P4A, which are also suitable for cleaning the instrument after use.

Application

Before covering the surface, make sure that the environmental conditions allow you to achieve the desired result. You can work:

  • exclusively in dry weather;
  • with slight gusts of wind;
  • at temperatures from -10 to +30 ° C;
  • with humidity up to 85%;

On a note! The temperature of the material being processed must exceed the dew point. In this case, condensation does not form, which can reduce the stability of the coating.

The composition is applied by spraying, roller or brush. In the first case, a spray gun is used, which allows to reduce the time of work and make the layer as thin as possible. Spraying with air is used if it is necessary to cover a sufficiently large area with soil in a short time. In this case, the material spreads on the surface evenly and easily penetrates into inaccessible zones.

On a note! For a spray gun, the composition is made more liquid than for painting with a roller. Before re-painting, wait until the previous coat has completely dried.

Application of a chemical-resistant primer with a spray gun

The roller and brush are useful in the process of processing small surfaces. The speed of work is lower, more effort and time are required. However, with this method, pollution of extraneous surfaces is practically eliminated, and you can work with the wind.

The composition is applied in 1-2 layers, it is recommended to make a coating with a thickness of 20 microns. The consumption of material depends on the condition of the surface and its shape. The processing of 1 m² takes from 60 to 120 grams.

Drying

Soil readiness is directly related to the ambient temperature. Depending on this indicator, the drying time is as follows:

  • 30 minutes at +30 ° C;
  • 1 hour at +20 ° C;
  • 7 hours at -10 ° C.

LKM belongs to the category of explosive and fire hazardous materials. In the process, volatile components that can be harmful to human health fall into the air, so you should take precautions:

  1. Do not apply soil in the immediate vicinity of open sources of fire.
  2. When used in an enclosed space, carefully ventilate the area.
  3. Wear personal protective equipment (respirator, rubber gloves).

Compliance with these rules will prevent the ignition of the material and protect yourself from contact with toxic substances.

Packing and storage

In accordance with GOST 9980-80, the material must be in a metal or polyethylene container:

  • tin cans;
  • barrels;
  • buckets;
  • jars.

Storage conditions:

  • in sealed factory packaging;
  • at temperatures from -40 ° C to +40 ° C;
  • in a room in which there is no moisture and direct sunlight;
  • far from the fire.

If the packaging is not printed, you can store up to one year. However, some manufacturers guarantee the preservation of the working properties of the material for six months.

Pros and cons

The undoubted advantages of LKM are:

  1. The quality of the resulting coating, its long service life.
  2. Speed and ease of application.
  3. Good adhesion.
  4. Wide enough temperature range for work.

The disadvantages include:

  1. Temperature limit at +60 ° C.
  2. The need for increased precautions when working.

At the same time, buyers are mostly positive about the soil.

XC-068 is a high-quality paint and varnish material at an affordable price. Excellent operational properties make it suitable for use in various industries.
