Properties and features of applying the primer HS-04 for metal surfaces

Primer HS-04 is a protective agent that belongs to the category of paints and varnishes. It is used for coating reinforced concrete and metal surfaces. It is applied by the very first layer, forms a thermally and chemically resistant film, protects against corrosion, salts, acids and alkalis. It is made on the basis of polymer vinyl resins.

Description

HS-04 is used for the protective treatment of metal, concrete, reinforced concrete surfaces. Due to the inclusion in the composition (as a filler) iron meerk becomes a strong base for paints and varnishes. The basic properties, appearance, surface texture, density and chemical resistance almost exactly copy polyvinyl chloride products.

HS-04 is used to protect structures made of metal and concrete

In combination with enamel XC-558 XC-04 gives a stable chemical compound that is inert to various substances used by humans, such as ethyl alcohol, strong wine drinks, therefore, for food products, the primer in combination with enamel is applied to metal tanks intended for storage juices, beer, drinking water.

Specifications

XC-04 is made by special technology based on vinyl acetate and vinyl chloride. The certificate of conformity indicates the use of a particular pigment. The material has a limited range of colors. Usually it is a red-brown shade or a dark brown color.

Among the main technical characteristics can be noted:

  • quick drying (like enamel) - at a temperature of 20 - 25 ° C for no more than 3 hours;
  • economical consumption - per 1 sq. km. m is 80 - 110 g;
  • the presence of non-volatile substances to mass - 46 - 49%;
  • the thickness of one protective layer is 17 - 20 microns;
  • good adhesion, component on a scale of 2 points;
  • the consumption per layer for metal is from 80 to 110 g / m2, when priming concrete material is spent twice as much, the exact value is calculated depending on the porosity of the base.

HS-04 soil is characterized by high durability, economical consumption, drying speed

Important! The shelf life of XC-04 is six months from the date of manufacture at the plant. At the request of the customer, packaging in its container is possible.

The properties of the soil are determined by its composition. Material inherent:

  • water resistance;
  • resistance to direct exposure to acids, alkalis, salts;
  • excellent adhesion to the surface;
  • resistance to low, medium and moderately high (up to +60 ° С) temperatures; short-term heating up to +120 ° С is permissible.

Note! Soil has an extremely smooth surface with a minimum pore size.

Preparatory work

Despite the excellent anti-corrosion properties, the surface must be prepared before priming. This will provide even higher adhesion and coating quality.

The order of work depending on the material:

  1. Clean the concrete from dirt and the old finish. Use a spatula to remove intumescent paint and lightly stucco. If LKM "sits firmly", you will need a wash or a building hair dryer.Remove oil stains with solvent 647. Walk over the surface with a grinding disc, then vacuum up and start priming.
  2. Clean the steel surface from rust. If the metal "went" in layers, pick them up with a spatula. Then treat the surface with a wire brush. If old paint is present, wash it off or heat it with a building hair dryer and remove. Remove the oxides, in conclusion, use the tool "Antirust".

Padding

The tool is applied with a brush, roller or spray gun. The method is selected depending on the desired layer thickness.

Work Stages:

  1. Mix the primer in the container with a stick or a drill with a mixer nozzle at low speed. No lumps should remain. When using a spray gun, dilute the primer to working viscosity with P-4 or P-4A solvents.
  2. Apply to prepared surface. If you work with a brush or roller, apply adjacent layers with a slight overlap. Avoid high material consumption.
  3. Let the first layer dry (minimum 3 hours at +20 ° C).
  4. If necessary, apply a second coat and let it dry.
  5. Apply the topcoat.

The airbrush can be operated at temperatures from -10 ° C to +30 ° C. Relative humidity ≤80%.

On a note! A moist surface cannot be primed. If a metal product (for example, window tint) is brought from the cold to heat, you need to wait until its temperature is equal to room temperature, and only after that proceed with staining.

Precautionary measures

The primer, like most coatings, is highly flammable and burns well. It is strictly forbidden to use the material near open sources of fire. The soil is toxic, so all work must be carried out in a well-ventilated area.

Personal protective equipment requires gloves, goggles and a respirator. The latter will prevent the entry of chemical fumes into the respiratory and digestive organs. If the soil has dripped onto the skin, remove it with a rag dipped in acetone, then wash the area with warm water and soap.

Store paintwork materials indoors, in tightly closed containers, eliminating direct sunlight and moisture at an ambient temperature of -40 ° C to +40 ° C.

Soil HS-04 is considered to be a universal material intended for the protective treatment of surfaces made of metal, concrete and reinforced concrete. It is mainly used in production, but it can be used in everyday life.
