Spray - mastering unconventional drawing technique

Children of any age love to draw. However, the creation of images using paints, pencils, brushes requires a high level of knowledge of the drawing technique, knowledge of some techniques and the correct application of various coloring compounds.

The lack of such skills in a child can turn him away from creativity, since the finished work is unattractive and far from the objects that he wanted to portray. What to do? In this case, non-traditional options come to the rescue, including the spray technique.

Steps for creating images

First of all, it is necessary to equip the workspace and put on an apron to protect clothes. In order not to stain the ceiling, walls, table and other objects in the room, cover nearby surfaces with a newspaper or oilcloth. The best solution is to create drawings over the sink or bathtub, so that immediately after all the manipulations wash your hands, hands and dirty plumbing. You can take a large box, which also work "spray".

In the absence of experience in such a technique, it is worth pre-training on draft sheets of paper. Spraying is very simple, but some practice is still necessary.

Spray paint brush

In order to be more confident in getting a good result and not worry that the annoying mistake will spoil the entire image, it is better to cover the decorated surface in advance with a layer of acrylic varnish. In this case, blots and ugly strokes can be gently wiped with a damp paper towel or cloth.

“Spray” is created with a brush or toothbrush. Paint should be diluted with water in a separate jar or other container until a thin sour cream is obtained. The more dense coloring composition is used in creativity, the more difficult it is to create splashes, they will be voluminous and embossed. However, the too fluid consistency of the dye causes it to spread, which can cause large smudges or blots that will ruin the canvas.

Space drawing

Work in the spray technique occurs in several successive stages:

  • moisten a brush or toothbrush in water;
  • shake off excess fluid to avoid blotches;
  • brush with a little coloring composition;
  • take a brush or brush in your left hand, and a flat stick in your right;
  • turn away the bristles from yourself, holding the device over a sheet of paper, quickly draw a stick on the surface of the hairs towards you so that the splashes fly onto the paper base of the future drawing;
  • depending on the task, cover the entire canvas or its individual sections with spray of the desired shades.

During operation "spray" you can change the direction of the hand and spray the paint horizontally, diagonally, etc.The size of the drops also changes - it can be adjusted by moving the bristles closer or closer to the paper sheet.

Paints of different colors and densities will allow you to create unique images that cannot be recreated in exactly the same form. Smooth transitions from one color to another is an interesting idea in the manufacture of a unique work.

Ways to use the technique

There are many options for drawing "spray":

  • the use of ready-made or self-made templates and stencils, dried flowers, leaves and other items;
  • creating the effect of snow or rain, sky, strewn with stars, on the finished image of the landscape;
  • to refine existing drawings and complement other techniques (for example, in decoupage);
  • in order to create the basic background of the future picture for the subsequent decoration of the painted surface;
  • for tinting the basis of applications;
  • in the manufacture of passepartout, etc.

Templates or stencils are often used in creativity, because they do not require a lot of artistic experience and knowledge. These devices are laid out on thick paper or another base, after which dye is sprayed on top. The stencil is removed and a clear picture of the selected hue remains on the paper sheet or a bright background is displayed. The use of dried flowers, small twigs, and other objects that are easy to find on the street gives the same effect.

The technique of drawing with a toothbrush as a brush

In the absence of brushes, you can use an old toothbrush. With its help, uniform splashes are created, the surface is tinted very quickly and easily, light and dark (even black) colors are correctly combined on the canvas, paint of any density is applied without any difficulties. All this is achievable thanks to a stiff and uniform bristle. The finished picture seems voluminous, you can depict a "fluffy" or "scratchy" texture.

In most cases, gouache is used when using a toothbrush. The main thing is to create the composition of the desired consistency. It is important not to let the paint get too liquid, but not to apply it in a thick or dry form.

Toothbrush splashing

A toothbrush will be needed to display on a paper or other surface:

  • basic background of the future drawing;
  • creating images of animals, insects, trees, flowers and other elements of the landscape;
  • snow, hail, raindrops, sea surface, clouds, clouds, etc.

An interesting solution is to dip a toothbrush in 2 different colors at once. Thus, you can master the technique of "double smear." Different tones and shades look professional, so even a child will be able to please loved ones with beautiful landscape sketches and still lifes.

"Spatter" is not always needed for the manufacture of independent images. It is used for tinting white paper with a view to its further use in creating applications and other crafts.

Mastering the technique of "spray" will be useful for both children and adults. Paints, other improvised materials and simple devices will help to create real works of art. In order to make the spray paint on paper more attractive, you need to practice a bit before starting work.
